June 2025 GenCyber Summer Institute

GenCyber Summer Institute

Is your child interested in computers or cybersecurity? Are you looking for summer camp opportunities this summer? It’s not too late to take advantage of the cybersecurity learning opportunities available for your middle school student at Missoula College GenCyber Summer Institute happening July 21 to 25, 2025.

This free all-day camp teaches students the basics of cybersecurity, including the fundamentals of attack and defense, and gives them a strong grounding in the basic functioning of computers. The camp fosters participant’s interest in cybersecurity and technology through a mix of lectures, exercises and hands-on activities. The institute’s curriculum is aligned with the U.S. National Security Administration’s GenCyber program.

No experience is required to join the camp, although there will be several pre-camp events campers can attend to build their skills and knowledge before the institute starts. Students at the Summer Institute also receive lunches and snacks provided by CyberMontana and Missoula College.

The camp is taught by Jeff Arends, Assistant Clinical Professor in Cybersecurity at Missoula College, a teacher with more than a decade of experience teaching at the college. The camp is supported by students from the Missoula College cybersecurity and IT programs, who act as mentors for campers.
