Our CyberMontana team is a group of dedicated professionals with experience in both the public and private sector. We are educators at heart and are privileged to share cybersecurity education throughout the state of Montana

Director, UM Center for Cybersecurity Workforce & Rural Policy

Provides strategic leadership for CyberMontana and the UM Center for Cybersecurity Workforce & Rural Policy. Advances cybersecurity education, workforce development, and partnerships that strengthen cybersecurity capacity across Montana.

Program Manager – Security Awareness Programs

Leads security awareness training, community outreach, and educational programming. Helps Montana residents and organizations recognize cyber threats and adopt practical habits that improve online safety.

Program Manager – Communications, Marketing & Events

Oversees CyberMontana’s marketing, communications, website content, and event coordination. Connects communities and partners across Montana with cybersecurity education, training, and engagement opportunities.

Professional Development Program Manager

Coordinates professional development programs, industry-recognized credentials, and workforce training opportunities that prepare learners for careers in cybersecurity.

Academic and Funding Program Manager

Coordinates K–12 summer STEM camps and teacher camps that expand access to cybersecurity education. Leads funding research and outreach to support program development and opportunities for Montana students and educators.

Sara Niekamp

Budget Analyst

Manages financial analysis, budgeting, purchasing, reporting, and compliance for Missoula College. Works with college leadership and University departments to support CyberMontana’s funding initiatives and special projects.

Graduate Assistant – Program & Project Coordinator

Supports program delivery through project coordination, event planning, communications, and research. Helps organize the activities and partnerships that bring CyberMontana’s services to communities across the state.

Graduate Assistant – Communications Research

Supports research, content development, and communications that promote cybersecurity education. Contributes to outreach projects that connect Montana audiences with CyberMontana’s programs and resources.

Senior Strategic Consultant

Cybersecurity faculty member in Computer Science at Carroll College. Teaches courses in networking, security, data operations, and computer forensics in both the public and private sectors.

Cybersecurity Training & Readiness Instructor

Provides direct support for the Montana Cybersecurity Policy Academy's core training and assessment services, organizing and facilitating workshops and assessments delivered to Montana's small, resource-constrained organizations.

Program Director – Information Technology / Assistant Professor, Missoula College

Manages courses and curriculum taught for the IT Degree, as well as events and student support to facilitate the NSA certified Center for Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity in Cyber Defense at Missoula College. Serves as the Department Chair for the Business and Technology Dept.

Professor, Missoula College

Teach mathematics and information technology at Missoula College. He also helps introduce middle school students to STEM through hands-on summer camps, with activities exploring electronics, digital forensics, and cybersecurity.

Information Technology Faculty Member, Missoula College

Teaches electronics technology, energy technology, and computer applications and currently serves as the lead instructor of networking in the Missoula College IT department.

Chief Information Officer, University of Montana

Provides strategic and operational leadership for UM’s computing and information technology enterprise across four campuses: UM-Missoula, UM-Western, Montana Technological University, and Helena College.
